I have been wanting to blog about my agile experiences more, but have a difficult time brain dumping all that is going on inside this thick head of mine at times. I stumbled across the declaration of interdependence that is a compliment to the Agile Manifesto this week and it really drove home the impact that agile has in how I view the software world.
We have discussed what our values as a team are at Integrum and are on our way to putting forth a values statement about what is important to us. I think often times it is too easy to get lost in the day to day of having to get things done and it can be easy to compromise your values. That is why I think it is invaluable to to have them posted in your face and put on the forefront of your mind on a regular basis.
For those that may not be into “agile” or know what it is, here are the core values from the above documents in a single post.
Agile Manifesto
- Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
- Working software over comprehensive documentation
- Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
- Responding to change over following a plan
Declaration of Interdependence
- We increase return on investment by making continuous flow of value our focus.
- We deliver reliable results by engaging customers in frequent interactions and shared ownership.
- We expect uncertainty and manage for it through iterations, anticipation, and adaptation.
- We unleash creativity and innovation by recognizing that individuals are the ultimate source of value, and creating an environment where they can make a difference.
- We boost performance through group accountability for results and shared responsibility for team effectiveness.
- We improve effectiveness and reliability through situationally specific strategies, processes and practices.
When it comes to software development what are your/your teams values?

Good link. I became a signatory
I was just talking with my brother-in-law about the lack of quality and responsibility many workers have today, whether it be IT or other fields. I worked at a Large Multinational Technology Corporation for several years, and I whenever I read things like this Declaration I always think how un-agile (and non-interdependent) that experience was.
