How much more would you pay for a house that cost little or nothing in utilities?
The problem with solar and other savings is that most home buyers can’t justify upfront costs for service consumed over time because of cash flow. The interesting thing about the concept of a new home is that all the cost can be put into a mortgage amortized over 15 or 30 years. I would suspect that somewhere around $20,000 for a 2,000sqft home in increased cost would be well worth it.
