It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life by Lance Armstrong
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This covers Lance’s early career, battle with cancer and ends with his first tour de france win. In the book he talks a lot about the “vampires” on the tour taking blood for doping and how innocent he was. Im pretty sure everyone in the sport was doping at that time. So reading this in the future makes parts laughable.
However, his outlook on cancer and what it takes to make it in a grueling sport was certainly motivational. I think my favorite line was something along the lines of “When I really started to make it and I knew I was ready was when I was willing to get on the bike when nobody else would, not even my team mates”.
