Political Bites : Should the South Mountain Freeway Construction Continue Despite Tribal Opposition?

Should transportation planners heed the Gila River vote and abandon construction of the South Mountain Freeway?

No.  I remember when the 101 was being built and it was left half completed because of failed negotiations for tribal land.  It would be hard to imagine daily life without this key piece of infrastructure.  If there really is data to back this being a viable and important transportation route, it needs to move forward.
