I think those that find this law to affect them frequently, should do some introspection. About the only time this law is able to bite you is when you are unprepared. Preparation is simply the act of being ready. All too often we get so rushed and so hurried in life that we just forget to prepare at all. Something as simple as getting gas the night before on your way home when you aren’t rushed, instead of having to grab it the morning of when you are already running late can be the preparation that makes a difference.

Nothing is worse than being unprepared. It is miserable knowing that you won’t shine because you didn’t put in the proper of effort upfront. It is horrific for the person expecting so much more and being let down by not getting your best. I would like to rewrite Murphy’s law and state it as “When something is important and you have not properly prepared, everything that can go wrong will go wrong.” or maybe it’s time to make a new law, “When properly prepared, anything that goes wrong can be easily overcome.”

So whether it’s going to bed early the night before an early meeting, filling up the tank the night before and not relying on getting out of the house early or having the presentation done days (not hours) before your time to present slot, being prepared will make sure that anything that goes wrong, will just be an inconvenience and the difference in what you do.
